Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated Staff and a number of volunteers, the Club escaped the ravages of Hurricane Frances with only minor damage to three canopies, four water coolers, and the ground lights at the entrance to the Club were either damaged or destroyed. Tree limbs and branches were strewn everywhere.

The President wishes to gratefully acknowledge the following Staff and Club members who worked so hard to secure the building and property in anticipation of and following the hurricane(s):

Kathy Rifflard, Judy Power, Joseph Josil, Jean Janvier, Kenroy Gayle, Skip Clement, Doug Clement, Dee Anderson, Linda Morgenstern, Jerry Hatfield, Chris Hughes, Frank Hughes, Steve Vaughn, Patty Crawford, Wayne Crawford, Don Giles, Mary Ginnard, George Sundahl, Al Moser, Johnny Saenz, Jack Boudwin, Jessie Boudwin, Leha Martinson, Karen Hunnicutt, and Bill Huegele.

Your Executive Committee has completed arrangements for the continuation of court maintenance when the Court Maintenance Contract with G. T. International, Inc. terminates on August 6, 2004.

Joseph Josel will transfer from building/ground maintenance to tennis court maintenance. Joseph has been an employee of the Club for more than 20 years and has previous court maintenance experience. Jean Jonvier will transfer from part-time casual laborer to full-time to replace Joseph Josel in building/ground maintenance and back-up for tennis court maintenance. Jean is a former employee of the Club. Alphonse Dufrene, an employee of G. T. International for 2+ years, will become a part-time employee of the Club and continue to maintain our courts from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Saturday - Thursday. Regrettably, Lincoln's contract obligations with G. T. International, Inc. preclude him from accepting an employment offer from the Club.

We thank George Triff and Lincoln for their valuable service to the Club and wish them success in their future endeavors.

We are pleased that Gus Palafox has volunteered to be an advisor in all court maintenance matters. Please remember to thank Gus whenever you see him around the courts.
